The spot

Writer's picture: Alex NicolsonAlex Nicolson

On breaking putts, identify a point 2 feet in front of the ball over which the ball needs to roll at perfect pace.

To hole a putt of over 10 feet, there is less than 1 deg tolerance left or right of the perfect start line so the spot adds the necessary precision.

N.b. Make sure you see the pace at which the ball needs to roll over the spot so your read doesn't become overly line-biased.
